We know him, we love him, we miss him …  Laurence Ortiz found his true contentment either on the golf course, at the horse track, or anywhere he could be with his family.  His passion for golf and the friendships he developed through that connection brought him so much joy and it was always on his mind.  As a kid, he couldn't get enough of the game and was known to jump the fence at the local country club after dark to continue playing (shhhh)!  Laurence was fortunate in that he played in many places and at many courses but his absolute favorite was anywhere he could joke with, insult, compete with, and bet with any one of his friends.  After surviving his first critical illness with Multiple Myeloma all he wanted to do was to play another round - it was the motivation to try one more line of treatment which bought him almost 2 more years and many more rounds of golf.  He was truly happy during that time and when he realized he played his last round he was grateful and cherished those memories. 

Please join us for an outstanding weekend in Colorado on August 20 & 21st for the inaugural Friends of Laurence (FOL) golf outing at Wellshire Golf Club and a Day at The Races at Arapaho Park.  We want to honor Laurence by leveraging his lifelong passions….golf, horse racing, family, friends, and giving back.

All monies raised through this tournament will be donated to the First Tee of Denver, an organization dedicated to fostering the love of golf among the youth of Denver, by the Friends of Laurence.  Laurence thought First Tee would be a perfect way to inspire a kid to love golf as much as he did.
